SHOSHONE MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION
A Nonprofit Corporation
The Shoshone Medical Center Foundation was organized in 1990 according to the Section 501(c) (3) section of the Internal Revenue Code as a non-profit corporation. It’s purpose is to benefit Shoshone Medical Center by coordinating all fund development programs, receiving Estate bequests, donations, gifts, and administering and disbursing funds received.
Recent successful projects have provided funding for a microscope to be used in ENT surgeries, and a sizable donation to the hospital for purchase of artwork to decorate the new facility. A beautiful fountain was installed in the Meditation Room and classic stone benches were purchased for the exterior landscape. Thanks to the generous donations of SMC employees, many very nice Christmas gifts were purchased for local nursing home residents who might not have family or friends to remember them during the holidays.
Scholarships are offered to Silver Valley students who are continuing their education in a health related field. An employee scholarship program is now offered to employees who are pursuing further education in health care.
The annual Golf Classic held in September at Shoshone Golf Club has become a very popular event for golfers as well as non-golfers. "Summer Wine" is a wine tasting and art auction event held the last Wednesday of July in the beautiful garden of the Mansion on the Hill Bed & Breakfast in Kellogg. It is a special invitation affair with opportunities to own fine art, taste excellent wines, listen to a little jazz and enjoy a beautiful North Idaho summer evening. A newsletter is mailed periodically to keep friends up-to-date on the latest Foundation and hospital news.
The Foundation is very appreciative of all gifts and looks forward to playing a major supporting role in the hospital’s future. The Loving Tree program receives gifts throughout the year as memorials or to honor special people or events. The name of the person honored is placed on the Loving Tree plaque located in the main lobby of the hospital. The beautiful new history/donor wall which was commissioned for the new hospital recognizes gifts of $1000 or more. In the planning process for 2006 is a memorial garden with the potential for long-lasting memorials in a natural setting.
The purpose of the Foundation is two-fold. First, it encourages and supports area students to pursue careers in health-related fields by offering three scholarships as well as to employees. Second, it provides a way for you to become involved in supporting your local hospital through bequests, memorials and donations. All gifts are tax deductible due to the 501(c)(3) status. Donations of any amount are always welcome and may be forwarded to SMC Foundation, Shoshone Medical Center, 25 Jacobs Gulch, Kellogg, ID 83837.
